The All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate in Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has defeated Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the polling unit of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau.
Takai is the political godson of Shekaru, the minister of education and former governor of Kano state.
At the polling unit 022 in Giginyu area of Nassarawa area of the state, Takai got 78 and Ganduje polled 164 votes.
Our correspondents report that this is the second time that Shekarau would be sponsoring Takai to contest for the state governorship election.
The first was in 2011 when Shekarau’s second tenure elapsed but Takai was defeated by the sitting governor of the state, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
