The National Transparency Coalition (NTC) has said Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is not immune to arrest and prosecution.
The group said the prompt investigation into allegations against Ganduje is crucial in upholding transparency and accountability.
The Coalition was responding to a statement by Oliver Okpala, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the former Kano State Governor.
Okpala, in response to a petition against Ganduje, suggested that the anti-graft agency can’t arrest or prosecute his principal.
But in a statement signed by Comrade Justice Anthony, the NTC said Ganduje is not immune to probe, adding that corruption allegations against him are well-documented.
Anthony said Okpala’s assertions that Ganduje won’t be intimidated by “anti-corruption imposters” only serve to underscore his penchant for anti-democratic tendencies.
The NTC, therefore, called for the immediate investigation into Ganduje’s alleged corrupt cases.
“The EFCC must demonstrate commitment to anti-corruption without bias. Investigating Ganduje will show that no individual is above the law,” Anthony added.
“NTC calls on Nigerians to support anti-corruption efforts, demanding accountability from leaders.
“Ganduje’s status does not grant immunity. EFCC must investigate, demonstrating commitment to anti-corruption.”
