Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has signed into law the Kano State Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospitals Bill, 2018 for effective running of Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu and Paediatric Hospital, Zoo Road respectively.
Signing the Bill into Law, Ganduje assured that, the operations and management of the two hospitals would not be business as usual, stressing that the hospitals, “will not go the way civil servants operate other health facilities.”
Ganduje added that workers industrial dispute, strike, would be carefully handled by government, as according to him the two facilities would be solely control by the state government.
He explained that the hospitals were constructed with a view to providing effective and efficient health care service delivery to the people of the state.
Ganduje announced that some teaching hospitals had indicated interest of using the facilities for both training of young doctors and other medical workers.
The governor commended Kano State House of Assembly for timely passage of the Bill.
On his part, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Dr Magashi commended Governor Ganduje for adopting the culture of continuity in governance, urging other state governors to emulate him.
Earlier the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso said the state government had trained adequate health workers on how to operate the ultra modern machines installed at the hospital such as MRI and 4D-Ultra Sound machines.
