Sports entrepreneur and Chairman of the Athletics and Other Sports Development Initiative, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, has charged the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade to “sit down and work.”

In a statement, Gara stressed that “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not appoint them to be globetrotting the whole world.”

He revealed that since their appointments, they had travelled abroad 12 times as spectators, without signing a single sports-related deal in line with the President’s sports economy agenda.

“The most embarrassing was when I saw the NSC Chairman travelling to one of the African countries to serve as CAF match commissioner,” Gombe stated. “If Dikko wants to function as a CAF match commissioner, he should resign. Both roles are not equal.”

He described Dikko’s NSC position as equivalent to a Sports Minister’s role and warned, “This is not League Management Company, this is the National Sports Commission.”

Gombe also criticized Olopade for neglecting his administrative duties, adding, “They should stay in Nigeria and work. Unfortunately, since their appointment, Nigerian sports has no visible direction.”

Gombe concluded his powerful remarks with a direct appeal to Mallam Dikko, urging him to shift from old patterns of inefficiency and misuse of office to a more responsible and impactful leadership style.
