Today, this great man of integrity, honour and reputation is no more and the legacy is being bastardized rather than being immortalized and emulated. To say that it is his own in-law whom he entrusted one of his daughters to in marriage that is bastardizing it is an understatement. The incumbent Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda is one man that ought to have immortalized this legacy of his in-law but chose the other way to tarnish it. One then wonders what the problems of our politicians are. Some of our politicians love power than even their parents as such, they can go the extra mile to achieve it. This therefore explains why the Bauchi State Governor, after the court pronounced his Excellency Garba Gadi as the authentic Deputy Governor, refused him his privileges and created an alternative office in which someone else held sway as Deputy Governor of the state when Garba Gadi was “illegally” impeached by the State House of Assembly.
In a way, Yuguda was right, for the fear of Garba Gadi whose influence, charisma and followership helped Isa Yuguda to win his gubernatorial election against the former Secretary to the State Government Nadada.
The Chibuike Amaechi, Mimiko, Oshiomole and others’ cases are still fresh in memory. Nigerians expect much from Justice Aloysus Katsina Ala’s led judiciary to do what is right, when and how it is right.
Why would the former Deputy Governor, after being pronounced illegal, still be enjoying state security protection and privileges.
What type of precedence is Governor Yuguda setting, each time we blame our elders for bad governance, why can’t youthful state chief executive officer’s like Yuguda show good example that “yes, youths can also lead our country to greater heights. Politics is not a game of do-or-die but carrying people along. If no one tells Governor Yuguda what legacy is all about, we, the holders of human rights, will do. The federal, state and local government leadership seat is greater than anyone as pronounced by the former United States of America Secretary of State, Ms Condolessa Rice. Yuguda should respect the views and opinions of the good people of Bauchi State for standing firmly beside and behind him by defeating Obasanjo and Ahmed Muazu’s candidate during the 2007 elections. Nigerians are waiting and expecting action from the judiciary, President and Governor Yuguda himself.
