Residents of the area said they had appealed to successive governments on the need to address their plight but all the calls had gone into deaf ears.  

One of the residents, Mr Musa Njadda explained that they had been virtually cut off from other parts of the local government as result of bad road, saying the situation become pathetic during rainy season.

According to him, they are confronted with many challenges on how to travel or convey their farm products to other urban markets due to bad road as few commercial vehicles fly the area.   

“We are in a critical condition due to lack of motor able road, the problem has negatively affected our socio-economic activities, because we are finding it difficult to convey sick persons and pregnant women on labour to hospital due to inadequate commercial vehicles. Our wives don’t attend anti-natal care, secondly we can’t convey our farm produce to markets, government should please save our lives”, he further appealed.

Another resident John Yakubu expressed regret that besides poor road, the area was lacking almost all basic infrastructures, saying during campaigns in previous elections, politicians made several promises to improve their well being but till now there was nothing to write home about.

The resident stated that the people presented their problems to Gwoza local government, but was told that the council lacked financial capacity to execute the project.

“We are calling on the state government to realize that we are suffering and the situation supposed is not to be so since we are aware that other parts of the state have benefited a lot from developmental projects,” he cried.
