The Gaza health ministry has issued a 212-page document with lists of names and identification numbers for 7,028 Palestinians including 2,913 children, that the Hamas authorities, which control Gaza, state have been killed by Israel’s bombardments since 7 October, UK’s The Guardian reports.

Aseel al-Bajeh of the Palestinian rights group al-Haq told Al Jazeera that the first 88 names out of the 7,000 names of slain Palestinians published by the Ministry of Health in Gaza “are from the same family”.

Earlier this month, the health ministry said all the living generations of some 45 families have been wiped from the Gaza civil registry.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza says it has decided to release the names of at least 7,000 Palestinians who have been killed in Israeli air strikes so “the entire world knows the truth about the genocidal war that the occupation is committing against our people.

The decision came after US President Joe Biden said he had “no confidence” in the Palestinian death toll reported by the ministry.

Joe Biden triggered a row yesterday when, during an unrelated press conference at the White House, he called into question the Palestinian civilian death toll in Gaza being reported by the authorities there. The US president said he had “no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed”.

Hamas calls for stronger intervention from Hezbollah

A senior Hamas official tells The Associated Press that the Palestinian group had expected stronger intervention from Hezbollah in its war with Israel, in a rare public appeal to its allies in the region.

Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s decision-making political bureau, said in an interview with the US news agency that “we need more” from allies, including Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, in light of the Israeli air campaign.

 Meanwhile, Palestinian families in Gaza are running out of food as bakeries run out of fuel amid Israel’s blockade of the territory, ActionAid has warned.
