The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief Whip of the House, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Land Transport, Abbas Tajuddeen, are among the top sponsors of bills in the last one year of the Ninth House, checks by our correspondent have revealed.
The Ninth National Assembly was inaugurated on June 11, 2019. A check by our correspondent shows that Gbajabiamila has so far sponsored 16 bills.
Monguno, who became the Chief Whip following Gbajabiamila’s emergence, shouldering the responsibility of maintaining order in the chamber during plenary, has 40 bills to his name.
Abbas Tajuddeen, who represents Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has 59 bills to his name.
Also, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, and the Minority Whip, Gideon Gwani, have so far sponsored 19 and 15 bills respectively despite their official roles in the chamber.
Others that have sponsored appreciable number of bills in the Green Chamber in the last one year include Uzoma Nkem-Abonta 30 bills; Ossai Nicholas Ossai (29); Dachung Bago (27); Simon Nwadkwom (22) and Francis Charles Uduyok (15).
