In a statement on Friday, Publisher/CEO Jacob Abai, said this year’s theme, “Interrogating the State Police Question: From Ideation to Action,” underscores the critical role that media plays in shaping a better future for our region and addressing pressing societal issues.

He emphasized the importance and timeliness of the topic of state policing.

He stated, “Security is fundamental to the prosperity and stability of any society. The ongoing debates around the establishment of state police forces highlight the complexities and challenges we face in ensuring safety and justice for all citizens. Through this lecture, we aim to thoroughly dissect this issue, exploring its implications, benefits, and potential pitfalls.”
