Africa’s leading children and youth gospel competition tagged God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT), has unveiled activities earmarked for its 7th edition.

Speaking at a media parley in Lagos to herald the kick off of this year’s event on Tuesday, the Head of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Apapa Family, Pastor Idowu  Iluyomade said another journey of discovering new talents in Nigeria’s entertainment industry has commenced.

“We are really thrilled to be unveiling the 7th Season of God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT). Nigeria has some amazing talents to be discovered and nurtured. It will be of great pleasure to reward the winner of this year’s season finale with the grand prizes of N10 million and a management deal worth N250 million,” he said.

The event which is an initiative of the RCCG, City of David parish held its first edition in 2011.

Past winners of the talent competition, Sisan Kpere-Daibo, Olorunsuyi Praise Olukemi and Onome Enakarakpor wowed guests with thrilling performances at Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island, where the event was held.

A spoken word artist and winner of GCGT Season 6 edition, Onome thrilled the guests with a soul-lifting performance titled “The Glory Story.”

The star-studded event also attracted top Nigerian celebrities including award winning musician, Cobhams, Lara George, Kemi Adetiba, Darey Art Alade, Omawunmi, Kaffy, among others.

According to the event organiser, Uti Nwachukwu and Ayo Thompson will serve as hosts for this year’s edition, adding that the overall winner will go home with a star prize of N10 million, a brand new car and a record management deal worth N250 million.

The organiser said aspiring contestants from age 5 to 20 can apply for the competition which covers four main categories such as Music, Dance, Comedy and Spoken Word as regional auditions would commenced in few weeks.

“GCGT create opportunities for young Nigerians across the country to showcase their talents, with the hope of being able to make a remarkable impression on stage and before the judges,” said the organiser.
