GEMS-4 prioritizes E-commerce, mobile tech

The Intervention Manager of Growth Employment in States (GEMS-4), Aisha Lawal Ahmed has described E- Commerce and mobile technology as GEMS-4 major cardinal objectives. GEMS-4 is an economic and business development project    funded by the British Department for International Development (DFID).
Speaking to news men at the 36th ongoing International Trade Fair in Kano yesterday, Ahmed said the GEMS-4 project was creating awareness for those who had become so embroiled in the business of production to access markets adding that women in the north had been impeded to access such markets due to socio-cultural factors.
According to her the GEMS-4 project was also geared to achieve the goal of mobile money through the application of sophisticated modern technology to effect a business transaction without  peddling with liquid money stressing that the new innovation was meant to introduce some form of cashless transaction to reduce excessive charges.
She however stated that business men and women were also poised to have access to the basic information needed to exploits the ample opportunities offered by GEMS-4 in the area of economic development stressing that the project active participation at the ongoing Trade Fair in Kano was conceived to create awareness among the most enterprising business men and women to move forward.
She further revealed that the project had been consistent in its policy of creating awareness and effective campaign through the mass media and other sources saying it was high time for people in the business of production to fully utilize the great opportunities offered by GEMS-4.
While describing the ongoing 36th Kano International Trade Fair as unique and all encompassing, the manager maintained that the uniqueness of the fair had been proven by the enthusiasm expressed by reputable foreign multi-national corporations to participate.
