The Panafricana Strategic and Policy Research Group (PANAFSTRAG), under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Ishola Williams (Rtd.), in collaboration with Empowered Newswire, is set to host the 1st Annual Conference on Followership Studies in Africa, a two-day virtual event scheduled for March 26–27, 2025.

With the theme “Followership or Followersheep,” the conference will critically explore the role of followership in governance, education, religion, and socio-political development in Africa.

The discussions will challenge traditional leadership-centric narratives by highlighting the responsibilities and impact of followers in shaping societies.

Mr. Laolu Akande, Editor-in-Chief of Empowered Newswire, will serve as the Chairman of the Conference, steering conversations with distinguished scholars, policymakers, and professionals.

The Keynote Address, titled “Beyond Leadership: The Role of Active Followership in Strengthening Democracy in Africa,” will be delivered by Dr. Samuel O. Oloruntoba, Assistant Professor at the Institute of African Studies, Carleton University, Canada.
