President of the veterinary Council of Nigeria, Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Aishatu Abubakar Baju, has said the council introduced Geo-mapping of veterinary practice premises, mobile app, seal and digitalised practice licence to combat quackery.
Speaking at the 70th Anniversary and launch of the VCN digital projects in Abuja, Aishatu said these cutting-edge technology innovations were “our response to combat quackery in our profession and enhance the efficiency of veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessionals in service delivery.”
AIG Baju said the technological solution would address many concerns in the sector.
The council said it was taking significant steps to elevate the quality of veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessionals, in line with the national reforms. These steps encompass reviewing veterinary curricula in our veterinary institutions to produce veterinarians and restructuring the College Of Veterinary surgeons, Nigeria.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, said the tech-driven innovations were aimed at creating conducive environment for the transformation of national animals’ health and veterinarian practices ecosystem in line with global best practices.
