The Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) of the Government Girls Secondary School (GSS), Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory, has established farmers market in the area.
The president of the SAGE in the school, Vanessa Education, disclosed this during the team’s excursion, led by the principal of the school, Hajiya Rukaiya Adaviruku, to farmers at Gada-Biyu village, Kwali Area Council.
She said the farmers market was established to serve as a platform for local farmers and eliminate the selfish role played by agents and middlemen to the detriment of farmers.
“And apart from that, the SAGE team is also running an online – offline farmers market via www.thefarmersmarket.com,” she said.
Also speaking, the principal of the school, Hajiya Rukaiya Adaviruku, commended the team for bringing ICT into agriculture, saying that initiative would boost agriculture and food production in the country.
