Police in Adamawa State have debunked reports alluding that Boko Haram Thursday took control of some villages in Girei area of the state and hoisted their flag. The spokesman of the state police command, Abubakar Othman, said the attack was carried out by herdsmen in reaction to the killing of two Fulani men by natives.
He confirmed the death of four farmers and destruction in Luru village, saying a joint security team had entered the village and gone after the attackers. Othman seriously faulted reports linking the attack to Boko Haram.
The Chairman of Girei LGA, Hussaini Yusuf, also debunked reports of Boko Haram presence in the area, saying Fulanis launched a reprisal over rustled cattle.
