A 14-year-old girl (name withheld) has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her father to death.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that the incident happened in the Cable Point area of the Asaba, the state capital.

It was learnt that a domestic misunderstanding ensued between the deceased and his daughter on Thursday evening which made the man to chastise her for an offence she reportedly committed.

It was further gathered that while deceased thought the matter had been laid to rest, he went to sleep not knowing that his daughter was waiting for him to sleep to carry out the act. She reportedly descended on the deceased, stabbing him severally with a knife which reportedly resulted in his death.

The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident. He expressed worry over the crime rate in the state, especially among the youth.

“I don’t have information if the deceased is the girl’s father. But all we know for now is that he was related to her. Imagine a small girl stabbing her relative to death.

“The other day, it was the killing of a Delta State University student. Where are we heading to?’’, the police spokesman wondered and urged parents to keep close watch on their children.
