Girl child education key to development – Emir Sanusi

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said that girl-child education is the only key to societal development which makes it a critical issue that must be taken with all seriousness.

The emir stated this while speaking at the flag-off of the second phase of the state’s measles immunization campaign in Ajingi Local Government Area of the state. 

He said an educated girl-will gradually grow to become a woman that can effectively take care of the home, thereby ensuring a healthy society. He stressed that girl-child education is apparently the key to overall development.

The royal father added that women and children constituted over 70% of the nation’s population, noting that taking good care of this per centage will no doubt result in a better nation capable of attaining all intended development strategies.  

In his address, representative of the Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) Ubale Rano, said the centre has been working on various aspects to ensure that girl retention in schools is increased.

He said the emir’s support to girl-child education is worth emulating by leaders and  every well-meaning Nigerian.
