Graduate Internship Scheme Director, Mr Peter Papka has threatened to sanction any employer conniving with interns to defraud the scheme which has been sustained by the federal government.
Speaking in Sokoto at the Career Development and Entrepreneurship training for interns, Papka said many interns had been removed from the programme because of fraudulent activities.
“They were not going to work because they had an agreement with their employers to share their monthly allowances. This is unacceptable and we will not take it at all,” he said.
Papka who was represented by the Operation Officer, Federal Ministry of Finance, Miss Kemi  Fatoki said the scheme had taken drastic measures to checkmate the practice.
He said they adopted monitoring and evaluation method with a view to tracking down those that intend to shortchange the scheme.
Papka added that many graduates were employed while some had established their own business and recruited their colleagues after their training.
