Over one hundred widows of men of the Nigerian Police Force who died in active service in Anambra State have benefited from the life-saving package of the RISE Clinic, in Adazi-Ani, Anambra State.

 The women were given 25kg bags of Anambra rice each and cash donations, including free medical treatment from the clinic, while their children were promised scholarships up to secondary school level. 

The chief executive officer of the clinic, Dr Emeka Okeke, underscored the importance of giving back to the people who lost their lives while protecting others, but regretted that their widows were neglected and left to wallow in hardship.

 He said the gesture would also be extended to other indigent ones in the community every year.

 Okeke added that the firm would offer scholarships to children of the widows, especially those who scaled through their exams beginning from April this year.

 He said the families of the widows were to assess free medical attention from the clinic, while they and their children were free to travel to any part of the country without cost on the company’s vehicles.

 The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, expressed appreciation to Dr. Emeka Okeke, for conceiving the idea which, he said, was the first time such a thing was happening. 

Okaula who also thanked Godwin and Patricia Okeke foundation for providing the platform for the actualization of the gesture, said the move would spur him and his men into putting their best to ensure no life or property of the citizens of the state was tampered with.

 On their part, Sir Godwin Okeke and his wife pledged continuous partnership with the state and the police to sustain the security already existing in the state.

 They expressed optimism that the gesture would further strengthen the security personnel as they worked tirelessly to safeguard the citizens.
