The defeat was the second for Akwa United in the ongoing NPFL season. The first defeat came against Enyimba FC of Aba.
Speaking to SHOT!, the former First Bank of Lagos coach said he was unable to parade a strong side against Giwa because he lost some of his key players to yellow cards and injuries.
He said even as Giwa deserved to win the match, it would have been a different story if he had full complement of his key players.
Udoh maintained that in as much as most of the new players who got his nod to do the job tried their best, it was not enough to earn the team a favourable result.
“Our defeat against Giwa did not come to me as a surprise. I missed the services of at least five key players. Two were out of the match due to yellow cards and the rest are down with different injuries.
“I don’t believe in giving excuses so let me say Giwa deserved to win. It was a good game but my team would have earned at least a point, if all our key players were involved.
“So let me congratulate Giwa on their victory. We shall take back our pound of flesh in the second stanza of the league”, he said
Udoh also hailed the match officials for providing a level playing field for both teams to play good football.
“Officiating in the league is improving. I have nothing against the match officials. They did their best by making it fifty-fifty. The officiating was not bad”, he said.
