GIZ holds entrepreneurship contest for students

The German Development Corporation (GIZ) has held the second national competition under the Student Entrepreneurship Activity Hub (SEA-Hub).
The competition is an extension of the state level competition which is held in Niger, Ogun, Lagos, Edo and Plateau states.
Head of SEDIN-GIZ programme, Markus Wauschkuhn, noted that the “SEA-Hubs have been introduced as extra-curricular entrepreneurship clubs, to provide practical entrepreneurship training to selected students and teachers in over 342 secondary schools in 66 local government areas across 12 states in Nigeria. SEA-Hub has reached over 30,000 secondary school students since inception.”
He added that over 300 participants from private and public secondary schools from Niger, Ogun, Plateau, Edo, Lagos and the FCT participated in the competition.
The advisor of the GIZ entrepreneurship scheme, Babafemi Oyediran, toured some benefitting schools in In Plateau state.
He described Plateau as a substantial supporter of the scheme, saying that the Plateau contribution has given good impetus to the scheme’s success in many ways.
The CEO and Lead Consultant Jos Business School, Ezekiel Gomos, promised that every year he would train and mentor five young entrepreneur free of charge, while the Plateau State Commissioner of Education, Elizabeth Wapmuk, said the Plateau State government will deepen its SEA-Hub involvement in all secondary schools as part of their curricular activities.
A beneficiary, Joy Amos, acquired skills during the programme while in Government Secondary School, Chamyap in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.
Joy joined the Students Entrepreneurship Activity Hub (SEA – Hub) in her school in 2017 and graduated in 2019, and now owns a big hair dressing saloon with several staff working for her, while doing a degree programme at the University of Jos.
