Glo launches Vigicom for vigilante members

Specially made for those on vigilante duty across the country, Vigicom, allows seamless communication between members of vigilante groups on the one hand and between them and their families on the other for with a free of cost lines, according to Glo.
Vigicom will also help in effective policing of remote areas and also assist in gathering necessary intelligence about criminals, the company said.
Speaking while launching the package during the National Seminar of VGN in Abuja at the weekend, Globacom’s Head of Public Sector Mr Tunde Amunikoro explained that all what the vigilante members need to do is just a rental of N1000 and they could communicate with those who have the special lines for free throughout the month without having to recharge again.
According to Amunikoro, communication is key in security and that is why Glo launched the package to assist in effective local vigilante work.
He said: “In fact communication is number one when you talk of securing our environments. Whenever I am travelling between Mokwa and Bida I see many people in the bush holding gun ensuring that criminals do not waylay travelers. I used to think how will these people communicate with their headquarters in Bida, how will they communicate with those in Ilorin that something is happening at that moment. How will they talk to their families back home when they are hiding and saving lives; how will they communicate without having to recharge because there is no way they get a recharge card to buy in the bush there? And that is more reason that Globacom decided that we want to be part of that project. We want to make work or securing lives and property much easier for these people.
“So that is why we say let us give them a special line: you have Glo SIMs and lines that that your members can use to communicate with each other seamlessly free for a whole month after paying just a N600 for the special SIM.
“This has been designed to suit the purpose of your job. When you are in the bush you may not get a recharge card to buy. So when you get the SIM and load with a monthly rental charge of N1000 you will be able to call your members and families that have the same SIMs free any time as long you have paid the monthly rental charge.”
Earlier, the Commander General of Commander General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Alhaji Ali Sokoto said members of the group can wipe out insurgency from the country if the Federal Government gives them the free hands to operate this is even as the Speaker of Niger State House of Assembly Barrister Adamu Usman gave the vigilante groups a thump up, saying they are capable of securing Nigeria.
