This week, the theme was “Fela“, all the contestants were set to perform two songs from the Afrobeat legend’s catalogue of hits.
Before the performances started, it was time for the elimination. The first contestant “saved” was Peace. We are guessing that she had the highest number of votes last week.
After Peace left the stage, the host, Olisa Adibua invited Da Brodas to join him on his left and then Casey to join him on his right. Boma was also invited to join him on his right and Rasine to join Casey on the left. Olisa then informed Casey and Rasine that they were ‘safe’, as they left the stage, Olisa swiftly announced that Boma had been eliminated from the competition. Boma thanked Africa for their support and left the stage to join the audience.
The special guest commentator of the week was Sound Sultan and he was there to watch as the top four contestants performed songs by Fela. Check out the video of the elimination and all the performances below. However, the contestants did quite well. Also, I wonder how Fela would feel about his music being performed on such a mainstream show especially with the message of many of the songs being somewhat anti-capitalist. We reckon he’ll appreciate it and be tickled by the irony.
