Telecommunications operator, Globacom, has pledged its support for Nigeria’s digital development drive at the ongoing Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) business roundtable on broadband investment and protection of critical information infrastructure.

The two-day roundtable, which began on Wednesday at the NCC headquarters in Abuja, is themed “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity.”

It brought together stakeholders from federal and state governments, regulatory bodies, the private sector, and telecom operators.

According to industry analysts, the forum provides a platform to harmonise public and private sector interests, improve policy coordination, and close existing digital gaps, particularly in underserved and rural communities. It is also expected to advance strategies for expanding Nigeria’s broadband footprint and strengthening infrastructure security. In a statement, Globacom explained that its sponsorship and active participation in the roundtable align with its commitment to building a connected, inclusive, and secure digital ecosystem. The company is providing both logistical and technical support for the success of the event.

“By contributing to these discussions, we seek to accelerate nationwide deployment of high-speed internet while ensuring robust safeguards for critical communication assets,” Globacom stated.

The telecoms firm noted that its involvement in the forum presents an opportunity to influence policy direction on issues such as Right of Way (RoW), infrastructure investment incentives, and regulatory frameworks for broadband expansion.

Globacom added that the roundtable would strengthen public-private partnerships, encourage innovative funding models, and promote equitable access to digital services in line with its mission of driving affordable and reliable connectivity across Nigeria.

“We believe that digital transformation must be inclusive and secure. Our participation in this roundtable is a continuation of our mission to support national development through technology. A resilient broadband infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and global competitiveness,” the company said.

The digital solutions provider further highlighted its role in contributing to the Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection Plan (CNIIPP), which aims to establish a coordinated framework for telecom security and protect against cyber threats and sabotage.
