Nigeria’s telecommunications giant, Globacom, has launched two new television commercials, “Road Trip” and “Department of Imagination”, as part of efforts to showcase the transformative role of data, connectivity, and technology in everyday life and the future digital economy.
The campaigns blend entertainment with technology-driven storytelling, highlighting the company’s investment in reliable connectivity, affordable data services, and advanced digital infrastructure.
The first commercial, titled “Road Trip”, centres on a family journey filled with laughter, music, and shared experiences, while subtly demonstrating how uninterrupted connectivity enhances daily life.
The advert features Nollywood stars Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, Demola Amoo, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Esan Damilola Catherine.
In the storyline, Toyin Abraham experiences repeated network interruptions while trying to stream a movie during the trip. Despite initial reluctance to switch networks, she eventually purchases a Glo SIM card, after which the journey becomes smoother with seamless streaming, gaming, navigation, and downloads.
According to the company, the commercial reflects the everyday expectations of consumers who desire dependable voice and data services without disruptions.
Globacom said the campaign also reinforces its commitment to improving customer experience through continuous network investments and easy access to services via the *312# code.
The second commercial, “Department of Imagination”, takes a futuristic approach by exploring how technology, artificial intelligence, gaming, healthcare, and digital innovation could shape the future.
The advert stars veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo alongside celebrity chef Hilda Baci, reality TV personality Bamike Adenibuyan, Obehi Brume, Eso Dike, Uche Ufuoegbunam, and Catherine Onoja.
Richard Mofe-Damijo plays the role of a professor guiding viewers through an imaginative digital world where technology powers immersive gaming experiences, smart food processing, AI-driven interactions, and enhanced healthcare delivery.
A recurring line in the advert, “Look What You’ve Started”, underscores the company’s message that innovation begins with bold ideas supported by the right digital infrastructure.
Globacom said the commercials collectively demonstrate its vision of being present in customers’ daily experiences while also driving the future of digital transformation across Africa.
The company highlighted the role of the Glo 1 international submarine cable, which connects 16 African countries to the United Kingdom and Europe, in expanding internet access and supporting emerging technologies.
According to Globacom, the infrastructure has contributed to the growth of e-commerce, e-governance, telemedicine, Internet of Things (IoT), and other digital economy initiatives across Nigeria and West Africa.
