The National Coordinator of the Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative (GMI), Sama’ila Musa, has expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing its economic reforms as necessary for long-term national stability.

In an interview, Musa said the group aligned with the administration due to what he called the President’s “decisiveness,” particularly in removing fuel subsidy.

“He started on a bold footing by confronting issues previous administrations had avoided. For us, that demonstrated a leader willing to address Nigeria’s structural challenges,” Musa said.

On the economy, he pointed to reported growth in non-oil revenue and foreign reserves as signs of progress.

“Many Nigerians expect immediate relief, but sustainable reforms require time,” he said.

Responding to allegations that subsidy savings were being misused, Musa said such claims remain political debates without verified evidence.

As the 2027 elections approach, he said grassroots mobilisation efforts are ongoing nationwide and urged citizens to participate actively in the democratic process.

“Many Nigerians express strong opinions online but fail to vote. Our goal is to reawaken civic responsibility,” he said.

He added that national progress depends on both institutional reforms and citizen engagement.
