The GO PINK BREAST CANCER BALL 2016 dinner reception and fundraiser event sets to hold tomorrow, Saturday 29th of October, 2016 at the Grand African Ball Room of The Intercontinental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Ball, themed ‘First Ladies Edition’ is an event in partnership with Optimal Cancer Care Foundation (OCCF) and pet projects of wives of governors from different states to share the message of breast cancer and its awareness nationwide.
The vision behind the first-of-its kind awareness campaign in Nigeria aims to create awareness nationwide so as to further develop strategies to improve access of women to cancer screening services in their respective states and regions in the first instance, and then subsequently push the frontiers of advocacy to other states and other underserved regions.
Breast cancer continues to be the leading cancer disease afflicting Nigerian women as 1-2 in 25 Nigerian women continue to be at risk of developing Breast Cancer in their lifetime which is why the whole month of October worldwide is a cancer awareness month.
With regards to entertainment at Ball, the First Ladies of Comedy, Lepacious Bose, Princess, Helen Paul and FunkeAkindele will feature and the First Lady of Dance – Miss Kaffy will deliver a dance presentation. DJ for the night is one of the leading female DJs in Nigeria – DJ Schulzz while other music artistes such as Omawumi, Lamboginny, Lynxxx, OritseFemi and the Osinachi crooner – HumbleSmiths have all agreed to perform at a nominal rate in support of OCCF’s efforts in raising Breast Cancer awareness in Nigeria.
Also, to create the much-needed awareness in other geographical locations across Nigeria, the Go Pink Breast Cancer Foundation partnered with other Foundations outside Lagos. They are Dr. ZainabBagudu of Kebbi State (Medicaid Cancer Foundation), Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi of Oyo State (ABC Medical Foundation), Dr. (Mrs.) OlufunsoAmosun of Ogun State (Uplift Development Foundation) and Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed of Kwara State (Leah Foundation).
The Medical Director OCCF, Dr Femi Olaleye calls on other celebrities, dignitaries to honor the Ball with their presence and gracefully walk the Pink Carpet tomorrow evening.
