The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Nuhu Angbaso, has tasked soldiers in the division to adapt to the modernisation taking place in the army.

Angbaso made the call on Monday in Yola, at the opening of the Operational Planning Cadre Ttraining Programme of the division holding in Yola.

Angbaso said adaptation to the innovations by the officers and men of the division was necessary to ensure better performance and professionalism in the military.

He said the programme organised for soldiers and other paramilitary personnel as directed by the Chief of Army Staff aimed at sharpening their skills for a highly professional and responsive army.

He lauded the units under the division for their performance despite challenges and urged them to sustain the tempo.

“These successes are due to the resolve of the chief of army staff and indeed, the determination of the current administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to reinvigorate the Nigerian Army modernisation process,”Angbaso said.

The Brigade Commander, 23 Brigade Yola, Brig.-Gen. Sani Mohammed, said the event would provide an opportunity for the officers and men of the division to interact with their colleagues from sister security agencies.

Mohammed said the event would enable them to exchange ideas on the enhancement of joint operations.

He said lectures during the training would cover rudiments and techniques for sound combat estimate, operational analysis and casualty evacuation.

Others are media operations, adherence to international humanitarian law, information sharing and logistics planning.

He noted that the brigade had benefitted from the transformation drive of the chief of staff, citing refurbishment of armoured fighting vehicle, procurement of new platforms and upgrading of training facilities, among others.

“These transformational efforts have greatly enhanced the welfare and operational capabilities of the troops.

“It is therefore my fervent hope that the operations planning cadre 2019 will add impetus to our operational planning and ensure continuity in the rejuvenated NA change process,” Mohammed said.

Declaring the training open, Gov. Muhammadu Bindow, represented by his Deputy, Mr Martins Babale, lauded the military for its role in national security.

Bindow described the training as timely and necessary to keep the soldiers on top of the growing security challenges in the country.

The governor gave the assurance that his administration would support smooth operations of security agencies in the state. (NAN)
