GFN secretary Bola Adedeji told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that the clinic would be hosted by Supreme Education Foundation School Magodo, Lagos.

Adedeji said that the federation would work with games masters of schools who would in turn impart the rudiments of the game to their wards.

The secretary said that the programme was part of the federation’s effort to popularise the sport at the grass roots.

He added that officials of the world’s golf regulatory body from St Andrews, Scotland, would attend as observers and would donate golf equipment to aid the growth of the game.

“As part of our efforts to make the game popular in the country, we intend to encourage schools to feature it in their inter-house sports competitions.

“We also urge local government areas in the country to develop golf courses in their locality to entrench the campaign.

“Our ultimate aim is to demystify the erroneous notion that the game is for the elites alone and not for commoners,” he said.
