The executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Pantami Ward in Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State have debunked a claim that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, resigned from party before joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Daily Trust reports that after failing to get the APC ticket, Prof. Pantami joined the PDP, and subsequently emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

However, addressing newsmen after a meeting held in Gombe, the Deputy Chairman of Pantami Ward, Yahaya Isa Lawanti, and the Ward Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed Nata, said the party officials were not aware of Pantami’s purported resignation at the time he emerged as PDP governorship candidate.

According to them, they had not received any letter from the former minister notifying them of his resignation from the party.

The ward secretary added that members of the ward executive committee became aware of the purported resignation through the Ward Chairman, Alhaji Bala Galda, “who informed us that he had personally received a letter from the former minister.

“The chairman told us during a meeting that he had received the letter on May 23, 2026. He added that the document was reportedly dated May 19, 2026 and delivered by an individual identified as Abba Pantami,” he said.

However, the ward secretary maintained that despite several requests, the resignation letter was neither presented before the ward executive committee nor formally communicated to its members as required by party procedures.

The ward executives, therefore, stated that Prof. Pantami had not properly completed the process of resigning from the APC before joining the PDP, noting that no documentary evidence was presented before taking such step.
