Gombe blasts: 29 killed, 99 injured-Police

Gombe state police command has said that 29 people were killed and 99 injured in the Wednesday’s multiple blasts in Gombe metropolis.

The police spokesman DSP Fwaje Ataijiri told Daily Trust that there was a problem in the casualty  figure earlier released by the Red Cross adding that “after going through the hospitals figure we were able to sort out the difference in the figure which is 29 killed and 99 injured in the blasts that engulfed Gombe on Wednesday.”

Earlier Red Cross  said that a total of 30 people were killed and 105 injured in the multiple blasts.

When our correspondent visited the Gombe state specialists’ hospital and Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, officials said they have counted 36 bodies and 105 injured victims from the blast as at yesterday Thursday.

Normalcy has return to the city with Banks and other commercial activities operating fully with few people around the commercial busy areas of the metropolis. While  volunteers and security agents  at the entrance of markets, banks and places of worships have intensified security whereby people were subjected to thorough searching before entering such places.
