Biri said the N1 billion was used as revolving loan for farmers in the state and procurement of 200 tractors, adding that government has engaged the services consultants to solicit for N3 billion loan facilities for farmers in the state with a view to supporting rice, sorghum and tomato production and processing.
He expressed optimism that the facility would be ready for the farmers to access before 2015 rainy season.
Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Umar Abdullahi, said the N1 billion loan given to the state in 2010 came from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), through Union Bank of Nigeria, to be made accessible to smallholder farmers.
