Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has appointed 54 aspirants who lost out at the recent primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the state House of Assembly seats, as special assistants.

This was disclosed by Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo Waziri, Deputy Chairman of the Gombe APC Reconciliation Committee, while submitting the report of the committee.

He said the governor approved the appointment of the aspirants due to their dedicated loyalty, solidarity and unshakable resolve to support the APC in the forthcoming general elections

Dasuki added that other civil servants that resigned their appointments and contested for different positions were given approval to return to their previous places of work.

He explained that the committee met and interacted with all 68 aspirants who contested for the state assembly, as well as 14 and six that contested for the House of Representatives and the Senate primaries respectively.

Receiving the report, Governor Yahaya said he constituted the reconciliation committee to resolve all grievances that arose from the congresses and primaries of the APC in the state.

He added that aspirants for the state assembly seats were reimbursed the money they spent to purchase nomination and expression of interest forms, and expressed happiness that no aggrieved member ditched the party.

He, however, regretted the trajectory of politics in Nigeria, noting that some politicians ventured into the game without a clearly defined ideology in the leadership recruitment process.
