Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has signed two bills into law, granting autonomy to the legislative and judiciary arms of government in the state.
The governor spoke on the matter Monday at the Government House during the swearing-in ceremony of three newly appointed High Court judges and two Khadis of the Shari’a Court of Appeal.

Governor Yahaya also presented the signed copy of the bills to the acting Chief Judge, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga and Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo.
According to him, he assented to the bills as a result of his administration’s commitment to achieve autonomy and independence of the two important arms of government.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya has called on the newly sworn-in judges and Khadis to draw from their wealth of knowledge and experience to help strengthen the state’s judiciary and consolidate the democratic system.
Our correspondent reports that three judges sworn-in included Barrister Zainab Abdulkadir Rasheed, Barrister Abdulsalam Muhammad and Chief Magistrate Daurabo Sulaiman Sikam, while Barristers Adamu Kuna Jibril and Ahmed Baba Bala were sworn as Khadis of the Shari’a Court of Appeal.
