Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Thursday presented the proposed budget of N535,691,983,000 for 2026 to the State House of Assembly.

Presenting the proposal, Governor Yahaya said the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport got the largest allocation of the sum of N135,935,500,000.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives was allocated the sum of N20.571 billion, while the health sector got N25.924 billion.

The basic education sector was allocated N31.953 billion only, tertiary education sector got N17.529 billion, while the Ministry of Water, Environment and Forest Resources was allocated N88.4 billion.

The proposal was tagged,“Budget of Consolidation,” with Governor Yahaya saying N164,250,813,000 was earmarked for recurrent (30.6%) and N371,441,170,000 (69.3%) for capital expenditure.

He said the budget would be financed by estimated recurrent revenue of N416.1 billion and capital receipts of N225.5 billion, with an estimated closing balance of N100 billion for 2025.

The governor said the 2024 budget performance as of September 30 was 60.12 per cent.

He also stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms are yielding tangible results, “with remarkable stability of Naira, steady decline in inflation and increase flow from the federal allocation to the state.”

He, therefore, urged the legislators to scrutinise the budget thoroughly and enrich it with their input.

“This will give our people a budget that truly reflects their hopes and secure their future,” he said.
