The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has warned residents of the state against building on waterways and encroaching on leftover lands beside newly constructed roads.
He gave the warning in an interview with newsmen yesterday, shortly after an inspection tour of some of the ongoing township roads projects.

The governor said the lands were compensated for, explaining that the government intends to use the space for services like planting of trees, installing solar streetlights and reticulating pipelines for adequate water supply among others.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being executed on all the road projects and assured his administration’s commitment to ensuring the success of the administration’s ‘Network Eleven Hundred’ project.
Earlier, the state’s Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engineer Abubakar Bappah explained that the 4.3 kilometers road, which started from Zainab Bulkacuwa Women and Children Hospital and link Unguwa Uku, Kagarawal and Malam Inna, was part of the Gombe township roads phase six.
According to him, over N320 million was paid as compensation to residents of the areas affected by road construction.
