The Gombe State Government has approved the construction of 17 township roads in Gombe metropolis valued at a contract sum of N8.8 billion.

The Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Engineer Abubakar Bappah, disclosed this to newsmen at the end of the state’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Engineer Bappah said the 17 township road projects would traverse areas like Kagarawal, Pantami/Gabukka, old GRA and Civil Service Commission (CSC) office to Government Science Secondary School Gombe to link up with Buba Shongo among other locations in the state capital.

He also disclosed that the executive council had approved N1.2 billion for emergency repair of washed-out rural roads across the state. 

Meanwhile, the executive council also approved N4.7 billion for completion of two ongoing road projects in the state.

The commissioner revealed that N2.1 billion was approved for the completion of the 19km Ture-Dogon Ruwa-Gelengu road which was started nine years ago by the previous administration.

He added that N2.6 billion was approved for extension work on the 10.9km Bakassi-Balansani road to Garin Kuka.

Engineer Bappah added that the council had also approved N557 million for the completion of the abandoned Dukku-Dokoro-Jamari road.
