The Chairman of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), Mrs Aisha Adamu, said the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has grown from N6.8 billion to N40.8 billion within the last six years.

She said the landmark IGR surge nearly doubled the N20.7 billion recorded in 2024, and exceeded the 2025 revenue target of N25.7 billion by 158 percent, underscoring the state’s rapidly improving fiscal performance.

Mrs Adamu added that the state has witnessed consistent and sustained growth in its revenue generation since the assumption of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in 2019.

“The Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has recorded a historic leap in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), growing collections from N6.8bn to an all-time high of about N40.8bn in 2025, representing nearly a 500 percent increase within six years.

“From N15.18bn in 2023, we recorded N20.72bn in 2024. In just one year, our performance doubled, as we achieved over N40bn in IGR in 2025,” she explained.

According to her, the impressive trajectory is in line with the Governor Yahaya administration’s commitment to strengthening revenue collection systems, improving taxpayer compliance and expanding the tax base.

She added that Governor Yahaya has continued to prioritise fiscal discipline and efficient governance, with the latest revenue milestone standing as clear proof of the administration’s sound economic policies and strategic investments in revenue administration.

The GIRS chairman further disclosed that the increased revenue inflow would support the state government in expanding social infrastructure, improving public service delivery and funding critical development projects with direct impact on the lives of Gombe residents.
