The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Gombe North, Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali has won Kwami local government area of Gombe state.
He defalcated his closest challenger, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who is the incumbent governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to results pasted at the 10 wards of the LGA, Senator Alkali of the APC polled a total of 26,795 votes while Dankwambo polled 14,019 votes.
Kwami LGA is one of the five LGAs in the the Senatorial District.
Electoral officials are still waiting for the results of the four other LGAs – Dukku, Funakaye, Gombe and Nafada at the Gombe North collation centre in Malam Sidi town.
