Gombe PDP Senator defects to APC

The Senator representing Gombe South Senatorial District, Anthony Siyako Yaro, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General Press Affairs of Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, said Senator Yaro, is the latest in a string of key defections engineered by the governor.
Daily Trust reports that three federal lawmakers from PDP had earlier joined the APC, including the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ali Isa JC, the member representing Dukku/ Nafada Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed and his Yamaltu Deba counterpart, Hon. Inuwa Garba.
According to Misilli, the latest defection to the party, has tightened the grip of the APC in the state, “effectively consolidating its political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He added that Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, and the APC Deputy National Financial Secretary, Hon. Hamma Adama Ali Kumo, joined Governor Yahaya to receive Senator Yaro into the party.
