The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled its candidates for the three Senatorial Districts and six Federal Constituencies for the 2027 general elections.
The candidates who all emerged through a consensus arrangement, were affirmed and unveiled during an exercise which took place at the zonal offices of the party across the state.
The PDP’s affirmation of the candidates were contained in a letter issued by the party’s Secretariat and addressed to the National Chairman through the National Organizing Secretary, forwarding the names of the candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives positions.
The letter was signed by the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Mohammed Dan’azumi Adamu, Secretary of the Screening Committee, Musa Shehu Abubakar, and the State Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar.
For the Gombe North Senatorial District, the incumbent Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, secured the ticket to contest for another term, setting the stage for another battle with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who also got the ticket to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also, incumbent Senator, Anthony Siyako Yaro, was confirmed as candidate to contest for the Gombe South Senatorial District, while Aliyu Abubakar Hammadu was confirmed as the PDP’s candidate to contest for the Gombe Central Senatorial District.
For the House of Representatives, the party confirmed Gidado Alhaji Lawanti for the Akko Federal Constituency, Mohammed Lamido for the Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, for the Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency, Shu’aibu Umar Galadima was confirmed as the party’s candidate, while Dr Nasir Ibrahim got the ticket to contest the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat.
For Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency, the PDP confirmed the incumbent member, Dr. Obed Paul Shehu, who recently defected from the APC, while Barr. Rambi Ibrahim Ayala was confirmed as the party’s candidate for the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency.
Our correspondent reports that present during the affirmation exercise at the respective centres, were the PDP zonal chairmen, members of the State Executive Committee, local government party officials and other prominent stakeholders.
While the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise to ensure compliance with the party’s internal procedures and electoral guidelines.
