The Gombe State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Asma’u Muhammad Iganus, has promised justice for a 2-year-old baby, who was allegedly defiled by her stepfather, one Muhammad Magaji (47).

The commissioner gave the promise when she visited the victim’s family at their residence in Gombe metropolis.

The commissioner expressed sympathy over the heinous act and donated a token, including diapers and cartons of soap to the family.

She assured the family that the government would pursue justice for the victim, pledging to take all necessary legal steps against the perpetrator.  The commissioner advocated life imprisonment for the culprits of such offences.

The victim’s mother expressed gratitude to the commissioner for her support and prayed for divine blessings upon her.

She also urged the government to take decisive action against her husband, who she accused of the crime.

In a follow-up effort, the commissioner visited the Gombe State Police Command, where she called for expedited investigation to ensure quick prosecution of the case at the court.
