The Gombe State Police Command, yesterday, said it has arrested 11 suspects over alleged robbery and receiving of stolen motorcycles.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina Tairu Olukolu, said the suspects were arrested by the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad in villages of Gombe and Bauchi states.
He said following credible information from members of the public, five of the suspects were arrested in Bambam village of Balanga LGA of Gombe State, two in Bauchi State, while the remaining four who were the receivers of the stolen motorcycles were arrested in Gombe.
Mr. Olukolu said the suspects were believed to be members of a syndicate group that specialised in stealing and sales of stolen motorcycles, and have been terrorising the people of Gombe and neighbouring states.
He added that two of the motorcycles were recovered from the suspects, and assured members of the public that the police were on top of the situation to apprehend other members of the syndicate to halt their activities in the state.
Olukolu said the suspects were helping the police with information and would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation was concluded.
