The Gombe State Police Command has begun a statewide enforcement operation against motorists driving vehicles without registration number plates and those using concealed plates, warning that violators will be prosecuted.

The command said the exercise is aimed at boosting public safety, preventing crime and strengthening security across the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, described the use of unregistered vehicles and concealed number plates as unlawful and a threat to effective policing.

He noted that vehicle registration plays a vital role in intelligence gathering, crime detection and law enforcement, stressing that criminals often exploit such vehicles to evade arrest and carry out illegal activities.

“The Gombe State Police Command has commenced enforcement operations targeting vehicles without approved registration number plates and those with concealed registration details. Anyone found violating these regulations will face the full weight of the law,” the statement said.

The command advised vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and display valid number plates at all times to avoid sanctions.

Commissioner of Police, Umar Ahmed Chuso, urged motorists to comply with the law and support efforts to improve security in the state.

He said adherence to vehicle registration regulations would not only save road users from penalties but also contribute to the fight against crime and insecurity.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through lawful measures aimed at enhancing public confidence in the state’s security system.
