Gombe State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) has said that farmers in the southern part of Gombe may experience low harvest of crops due to late arrival of rains and later heavy rainfall this farming season. 
State Acting Director, Agric Extension Gombe ADP, Buba Kamfani Ajah, told reporters yesterday in Gombe that “as we went round the state we saw the problems in Gombe south; we observed late arrival of rainfall and when the rain came it was heavy rainfall that damaged farmers’ crops.”
Buba said some of the areas had crops affected including millet, bambara nut, maize among others, with maize the worst affected.
The director however said farmers in the northern part of Gombe expect bumper harvest because they had early rainfall. Presently many of the farmers have started harvesting their crops, he added.
Ajah said government had provided farmers with early maturing variety of seeds, fertilizers and other farming tools in order to have bumper harvest in the state.
