The Gombe State Government has announced plans to strengthen its healthcare value chain through its first-ever Health Summit, scheduled for October 2–3, 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing in Gombe, Commissioner for Health Dr. Habu Dahiru said the two-day event is designed to address challenges in the health sector, propose solutions, and showcase the government’s achievements.
He said the summit would attract key participants, including Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed; Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate (virtually); development partners; health experts; and civil society organisations.
According to Dahiru, the forum will bring together stakeholders from both health and non-health sectors to deliberate on practical measures for improving healthcare services.

“The summit will give us an opportunity to showcase our strides in policies, reforms, and projects in healthcare delivery in Gombe State,” he said.
He disclosed that highlights of the event would include the commissioning of major projects by the First Lady. These include the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Gombe, the SDGs Women and Children’s Hospital, and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.
The commissioner also announced the launch of an emergency health call centre and deployment of ambulances to enhance rapid response in medical emergencies.
“The initiative is poised to revolutionise emergency healthcare services in the state. The summit marks a new phase in Gombe’s effort to strengthen its health system,” Dahiru added.
