Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has announced the establishment of a 184-hectare agro-industrial hub to boost food security and drive economic development in the state.

In a statewide broadcast to mark the sixth anniversary of his administration, Governor Yahaya said the hub would feature an international grain and livestock market, as well as a modern commercial abattoir.

He said the initiative would position Gombe as a major agri-business and trade centre in Northern Nigeria, unlocking vast economic opportunities for residents.

The governor highlighted previous efforts, including the N24 billion investment in the 1,000-hectare Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, as part of the state’s industrialisation drive.

“These investments will not only enhance food security but also transform lives by creating jobs and boosting productivity,” he said.

He reiterated his administration’s support for farmers and herders through input distribution, vaccination, and conflict mitigation, adding that a Faculty of Agricultural Sciences had been established at Gombe State University in Kwami LGA to address food security challenges through research and innovation.
