Gombe to honour young entrepreneurs

The Gombe State Government has inaugurated a nine-man committee for the implementation of the state First Achievers Award to honour young entrepreneurs.

Inaugurating the committee, the state Commissioner for Youth Empowerment, Malam Farouk Yarma, said the award would be given in recognition and appreciation of hard work, innovation and creativity of the youths.

He said the committee would identify youths that distinguished themselves in various field of endeavours, in an effort to enhance human resources development, especially for the youths in order to fast track the development of the state.

Also speaking, the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Mr James Pisagi, said the aim of the award was to appreciate the works of young indigenes of the state both within and outside the country.

He said the award would also create positive models, worthy of emulation by other youths, adding that it would equally acknowledge youths as an assets rather than a liability for investment and development of the state.

In his response, Chairman of the Committee, Abubakar Inuwa Tata, assured the committee members’ commitment to work diligently and identify deserving youths working both in public and private sector for the award.
