The Gombe State government has conducted special entrance examination for applicants in 18 centres as part of its plan to commence academic activities in the 15 newly built turn-around science and technical colleges in the state.
The examination took place at the weekend across the 11 local government areas of the state.
A press statement signed by the public relations officer of the Gombe State Ministry of Education, Saidu Bappa Malala, said the purpose of the examination was to assess the level of students’ performance relative to curriculum standard.
The government pledged to boost investment in the education sector, he said, adding that a total of 6,438 students sat for the examination into schools that will commence academic activities soon.
Daily Trust gathered that on assumption of office in 2011, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo pledged to pay attention to education and immediately awarded contract for the construction of 15 turn-around schools spread across the 11 local government areas of the state.
