The event was opened by Jeremiah Gyan with his popular hit Na Ba Ka. Towards the end of the event, Edward did many inspirational songs form his Unlimited album. It was a night Spirit Lifers will cherish for the rest of their lives.

There were 10 contestants. At the end, three singers emerged winners. Adenike Oliha got the star prize of N500,000; Adesomo Ikhiagwina won the second prize of N250,000; and Goodness Gordon who is son of the General Overseer of Spirit and Life Bible Church, one of the organizers of the competition, Apostle Eunice Gordon-Osagiede went home with the consolation prize of N100,000.

The contestants were full of joy after the event. One had this to say, “Beside the monetary reward that has come to the winners, it is a time of refreshment in the presence of the Lord. We hope to have more of this soon.”

Barr. Emose Drusilla Gordon-Osagiede, who was the brain behind the event said, “For the Nigerian youths and other able men and women in the body of Christ looking for avenues to showcase their talents, get focused and properly channeled. They need not worry any more as The Gospel Voice of the Spirit and Life Bible Church has come to stay. The Gospel Voice offers them a unique platform.”

The Edo-born daughter of Dr. Apostle Erharuyi Gordon Osagiede, the late academic and the founder of Spirit and Life Bible Church World-wide believes it’s time to focus on our local churches for talent development and utilisation.

She explained, “Gospel Voice is to Christian youths what Africa Idol is to those who are ‘unchurch’ or church-goers but not deeply involved. We have seen over time how youths in the churches, after they are nurtured go out to the secular world to get fame. Some end up not good.

“I felt, why don’t we raise these youths and also help them to remain focused on their kingdom assignment and live for God. So, Gospel Voice is about latent hunt, developing the talent and also helping to showcase talents for the glory of God.

“It’s also helping our youths in the church to appreciate their talents and utilize them. We are of the view that the church has a lot to do with music and God loves good music and the church has all these talents in abundance. The only challenge is harmonizing these enormous gifts in the body of Christ to the glory of God.”
